Phil, You can turn this off permanently (as I have) so each open is a new window. On the View menu, you should see that "Default to ring" is checked. Un-check it. What I'm looking for is a new window. In ms word, for example, if you want to open a second document you press ctrl-n. This creates new documents within their own window which can be sized, etc, independently of any of the other windows. The current way it works in Code I would argue isn't windows-like at all but more like a multiple session dumb terminal. :) Phil -----Original Message----- From: owner-code400-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-code400-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Buck Calabro Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2001 5:20 PM To: CODE400-L@midrange.com Subject: RE: Inserting Specs of a different type after a given type. >Or, allow the views to be in separable windows >so you can easily see the source code of >different members easily. The anti-mouse man here again! <grin> Open two files in Code. This creates a "ring" of files you're working with. You can alt-<cursor right> to spin among the files, but if you want to see them all on the same window: alt+v (View menu) s (split) r (split off ring) If you want the windows split with a vertical division (side-by-side) alt+v s e (vertical) Horizontal (above-and-below) would be alt+v, s, h Functionally, this creates two rings instead of one. To switch between rings, ctrl+alt+<cursor right> Buck PS if the resulting window is too small to comfortably hold your files, you can resize it: alt+<space>, s, use the cursor keys to enlarge/shrink the window the way alt+you like. <enter> "saves" it. +--- | This is the CODE/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to CODE400-L@midrange.com.
