Dwight, is this specifically with CL prompting? If not, then for RPG are
you asking to show some
of the surrounding lines of code on each prompt? Even at the expense of the
prompt taking
more screen real estate? By the way, have you tried the "Extras->Column
sensitive editing"
option? It allows you to edit more effectively (arguably) in place versus
prompting. That is, it
restricts the insert/delete behaviour to the current RPG column. Its not
universally loved, but
it might be of value to some people.

For CL prompting, today it uses the green screen to do the prompting. In
the future, we will
be using new AS/400 Toolbox for Java technology that returns the *CMD
object and on the
fly builds a Java GUI prompt. It even converts the *CMD help to Java Help.
This is a little too
big and risky to change mid-stream via service pack, but we will be making
it available on
our Web site as a download, so we can get some burn-in and feedback.
