Re: How to delete IIM records

How we do it is

1. INV100 there is a command key to be deleting them.
If there is a cost or order or routings or BOM or some other thing open on what you think is a deleteable item, then you get an error message that could be more informative but can point you in direction of what needs clearing out first.

2. Now we have a bunch of IIM records that are SOFT CODED as deleted, but they do not actually go away from the disk space.

3. I have a simple program to physically remove the soft coded deleted records ... someone can give you an SQL statement ... I like to do this kind of thing inside a program because once it is right, no risk of el typo.

4. The BPCS SYS120 reorg does not recover the disk space, so I run the IBM file reorg.

5. There are an infinity of history files with records pointing at the gone away items, just waiting to be inherited by the next item that gets that item #. Cleaning that up could be a full time job. I was in fact working at that job when more important business needs got in the way.
