Hi,

We have a 90 seat license, still had to apply a new key (at least I'm pretty
sure - my memory is going). I'd check w/ SSA. If you do not apply a new
key and then run into problems, they (SSA) normally can get you a temporary
immediately, which should hold you over until the paper work is complete for
the permanent key. Good luck.

I will be upgrading the 720 to V5 R1 and THEN upgrading to the 820. The
serial no. will remain but the model no will change. I should ha\ve
mentioned that I am on a 40 seat license agreement with SSA so the software
is not contingent on the platform.

Stop. The procedure below will NOT work.

8xx System are NOT supported at V4R4 of OS/400.

Some 8xx systems are supported at V4R5 of OS/400 - some 820, all 830 and
some 840 models.

All 820-24xx systems are ONLY supported at V5R1 of OS/400.

HiHo

Oh yes. A very important note.

1. Install OS/400 V4R4M0 on the new 820 box.
2. Make sure everything is working fine
3. Backup everthing required (BPCS,ETC...) on the old 720 box.
4. Restore on new 820 box
5. Upgrade from V4R4M0 to V5R1M0 on new 820
