Hello, When we do outside operations, we send the item(s) out under one part number and bring them back as another part number. We setup an outside operation step in the routing of the part number we bring them back under, i.e. parent part no; using a Basic Code of C in the routing. When we are ready to send out the item(s), we enter a PO against the parent part no., referencing the SO # and operation step; we then do an issue transaction on the child part no(s). When the item(s) are sent back to us we receive them via a non-inventory PO receipt transaction (to satisfy the 3 way match accounting process). We then do a SO receipt on the parent part no. We track outside inventory via ad-hoc reports basically matching these transactions together. Hope this doesn't sound too confusing. However, I am not that familiar with the MRP/MPS modules. Could anyone give me some guidelines on the setup and run procedure?
