We gotta get clear on the terminology regarding this topic.

There is green screen order entry. It has all the features of what is known
as COM, including configurator.

There is the NEWI 2nd Generation GUI based order entry that some have
described as the "Screen Scraper" interface. It is a Windows interface with
the same functionality as the green screen interface. The only program logic
it has is interface related. It sometimes gets confused with "Full
Client/Server" or COM.

There is finally "Full Client/Server" popularly known as COM. This began
shipping with 6.0.00 and ended, according to Genyphyr, in 6.1 controlled
release. It was a full blown Windows application providing not only display
services, but validation and a certain degree of program logic. People
didn't like its performance. It is gone. For surviving examples of full
client server see CEA and OLM. I hope CEA survives the way it is because it
gets along with spreadsheets better than NEWI 2nd Gen and them accountant
types sure like their spreadsheets.

What are we all doing posting on Sunday night? What a life!
