Who told you that nobody's running v6.1 GUI Order Entry? This is simply not true. I have a client that is live with eBPCS Full Client/Server Order Entry. Also - what do you mean when you say that you don't plan to use COM? There really is no more COM with v6.1 (no more fat client). Do you mean you won't use Configurator or won't use much pricing logic? From my experience with eBPCS (and the other flavors of v6 for that matter), green-screen apps appear to perform slightly better than their client/server counterparts. This is very tough to get a handle on, however, since most clients do not load both mixed-mode and full client/server. I worked with one client almost a year ago now that had both loaded against the same database (kind of neat in itself). Because I'm a curious guy, I ran a few tests and found about a 20% difference in Order Entry performance (varied a little with different types of pricing) - green screen ORD700 outperforming full client/server. Don't go quoting this 20% number, though. Since AS/400s are generally optimized and tuned for either mixed-mode or client/server (not both), my tests can hardly be considered the final word (proper tuning for client/server might very well remove the gap altogether). Tuning aside, AS/400 model and specs will obviously also contribute to performance numbers. I'd suggest talking to your SSA rep re: v6.1 client/server references and tuning for your box and environment. There are just so many variables.
