With that kind of volume, you may be choking on sheer volumes of data. Have you tried purging the files? There's a purging and archiving utility that works with BPCS called ARCTOOLS that will help in getting the data out of the way of the production database and into an archive environment. Obviously, you would only want to archive older data, but if you could archive from a year back (or tighter) you'd see a substantial improvement in response times. For inquiry purposes, selected logical files could be modified to allow inquiry access to the archived data while keeping the order entry programs humming.
