RE: Download Director

fixed

I use a batch program that I submit. The program reads a source member that
contains the instructions.

I think in the years I've been using it, I've only gotten disconnected once.

You're welcome to the program.

Subject: Re: Download Director

I did end up going the FTP route. There were three .bin files I needed to
download (cumm, hyper, db). The first being the largest ran all day
yesterday. While downloading, the amount download thus far was
displayed. At the end, that display went away but the get SF99701_1.bin
still sat on the command entry line for a long time. Eventually, a "no
response from remote host; all connections closed" message was displayed.
This happened with all three downloads. The files do not display the same
sizes as the documentation shows, they are a bit larger. Not sure if this
is normal or a problem?

Vic,

A fair number of us on this forum will use the FTP download rather than
the director. Even though download director does have a restart
capability, it always tends to have more troubles with large downloads.
Works great for the smaller ones. The other thing that concerns me is
if you have been trying to get the files for more than a couple of days,
the files might not be available anymore and you would have to reorder
them.

I suggest you reorder the PTFs/Groups you need and use the FTP download
option. You'll get an email with very good instructions on how to
download them to your PC or directly to the IBM i instance.

Hi all,

I've been trying to download the latest cumm and hypers since last week.
Download director tells me the download will is some 8Gb in size and
will
take about 15 hours to download (3Mb connection). However, I keep
getting a
"Server is busy, try again later" message. If I click on the retry
button
it picks up again only to re-display the server message a few minutes
later. This is tolerable while I'm here at work, but with a download
time
of 18 hours (current estimate) I was hoping it would just run all night
and
be done tomorrow. Is there a way to tell download director to try again
automatically? Should I not use download director?

Thanks,

Vic
