Curious. Since I can access the shares with win2k, but not XP, seems
the server is already running. Is there some job within *NETSVR that
might have shutdown, thus allowing only win2k to work? Will running
that command effect other servers currently running?

We have several QINTER* subsystems to 'spread out the wear' on a single subsystem; plus there's the hope that in case of trouble, the other subsystem will pick up the orphaned users.

I'm assuming the OP ran the STRTCPSVR *NETSVR command....
