Once the IPL is complete I would just cycle through the various switch settings in the hope that a device description will auto-configure. You probably won't have to go as far as attaching to the next port, but if you do it's still worth a try. Once you get a session you can delete the console's description, make sure that auto-configure is on, sign off, and set it back to 0,0. It should auto-configure as the console straight away.
