  • Subject: OLD 36 Database.

I have a model 200 AS/400 running Version V3R1M2.
We are a somewhat small company, about 30 - 35 users using
either CA or dummies.

I have a few questions to ask.

1) I upgraded to the 400 a few years back. Some of the old
36 commands still run, but only if your setup under 36
mode. And some programs only run under 36. Is there any
way to get rid of this, or do I want to?
2) I would also like to know if we should upgrade the OS at
all?
3) I don't know anything about ILE but we have it installed
and I would like to start migrating that way. Can I just
start converting or creating new RPGIV code and do all that
good stuff now?

I just heard from my predicessor that since we have an old
36 database that we can not use ILE and bind our programs or
what not. If anyone could help me in the information I need
it would be greatly appreciated. Any additional information
would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance.
KMS
