It sounds like you want CGI. Are you doing CGI already on Apache?

I may be asking the wrong question. My web page is already sending a request to, and receiving data from, the Apache server on the iSeries machine. I am understanding that part of the equation, at least at a novice level.

My guess is that the solution is a lot easier than I am making it; at least that has been my experience so far. It would seem reasonable that the Apache server, if asked properly, would be able and willing to pass along a request to my development library to invoke an SQLRPGLE program.

Security shouldn't be an issue; if I have the security for 5250 access then I should have access for web access to that same data, too?
