First sentence in this "how to install from source" document is "PostgreSQL works on AIX, but getting it installed properly can be challenging.".

Sounds like an interesting exercise.

Also, I expect that it is IFS-based and not DB2/400-table based (but I do not know how much that helps performancewise for MySQL).

Why would you choose PostgreSQL instead of DB2/400 which works out of the box?
