The way I read it, support is dropped period, Blake's original post
had the following text:
"Note
The IBMDB2I storage engine was introduced in MySQL 5.1.33 and
considered GA in MySQL 5.1.35. It was removed in MySQL 5.1.54."

found here:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/se-db2.html

In addition, there's no reference to the IBMDB2I storage engine in the
MySQL 5.5 docs:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/storage-engines.html

That's very disappointing....I had hope to make use of it at some point.

Notice that this press release only drops support for v5r4 and 6.1.  Its
looks as though 7.1 is still supported.

Re: [WEB400] MySQL and DB2 storage engine for IBM i

From: "BButterworth"
Does anyone know the status of these products for the future on IBM i?

Blake,

You probably saw the following End of Life notice:

http://dev.mysql.com/support/eol-notice.html

I gather that Oracle is NOT interested in supporting MySQL on IBM i.  If
not
Oracle, then who?  What about PHP applications that rely on MySQL? Weren't
we
just discussing WordPress's use of MySQL under IBM i?
