If you want to understand the inner workings of HTML, there's nothing
like coding it by hand. UltraEdit is the best text editor you can
buy, but Notepad++ is good if you're looking for a freebie.

Someone just recently asked me to try out Dreamweaver. It's not
terrible anymore. It seems to write decent code. If you are a
graphic artist looking to design web pages, it's probably a very good
tool for you. If you are a programmer looking to write web pages, use
a text editor.

I am just starting to create some very simple web pages to request info

I am looking for any suggestions on software that I could use to create
the html (web pages). I know that I could just use text/note pad or other
text editors but I am hoping to spend my time designing the page and not
get into a lot of coding of the html file. This is probably backwards, I
know. Understanding the inner working of the html is a good thing.
Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.
