You characterized Aaron's usage as unprofessional, then used "informal chatter" yourself. My point is that rather than applying the "when in Rome" philosophy, you could set a more professional standard with your response.

I objected to Aaron's use of the word "bummer" not because of its colloquial nature, but rather its high index of negative connotation when referring to a purely syntactical aspect of the language. This is in contrast to my use of informal chatter ("kick the living crap out of") which was specifically designed to engage the reader at a more visceral level and to quickly and concisely present my point of view vis-a-vis the superior nature of EGL's feature set.

I apologize if my commentary offended you.
