Thanks much for the info; what I was looking for.

Like the idea of host variables; shows a better tied to what you do in
compiled languages.

Is the Sayles website in your IBM article for which you sent the URL?

I think WDSC is on the i5 I use but in case it isn't or is old, how does
one get EGL? Is it part of the i5/OS or a program product or what?

At V7, EGL is part of something called the Rational Business Developer
extensions (RBDe) and can only be used in conjunction with a Rational Tool
Suite, such as RAD or WDSC.

This will change, but for now you need to get WDSC V7 installed and then go
find the RBDe free trial. It's on the IBM site, but I have no idea where.
Maybe someone else can chime in. If not, and you can't find it, let me know
and I'll do some more digging.
