Okay... if the surge protector has insurance on it, start the process to see if you can get it tested to be bad, if it doesn't have insurance it is worth the money to get one (and pray that your house insurance company will replace it). They can tell you if the surge protector is bad, they should replace it for free and they will start the process of getting you the money for replacing the computer. I would take it to a "certified" tech and tell them the problems. Ask them to give you a quote for repair. As far as testing everything. There isn't much you can really do. The power supply can be tested per the other post. I always hated working with those, the one person I helped (when I was a repair tech) I think bought a new computer. Some problems aren't noticeable until months later. -----Original Message----- From: Peter_Vidal@pall.com [mailto:Peter_Vidal@pall.com] Sent: Friday, September 20, 2002 10:05 AM To: web400@midrange.com Subject: RE: [WEB400] SYSTEM EXCEPTION: ACCESS VIOLATION "Symptoms lead me to believe that there is more problems with your computer than fried modem and NIC. Was you computer on a surge protector? I am thinking the MoBo got zapped. Maybe not enough to fry it, but enough to cause problems? Any other "weird" problems with your computer since then?" Yes I have one surge protector just for my PC. What I have to do to test the mother board then?
