While you (and many others) weren't watching <g> IBM did an amazing trick with the AS/400: they built an 'integrated file system' around the existing libraries and changed the libraries into a (somewhat special) subdirectory of the root. So to experienced AS/400 users everything looked as familiar as ever, but suddenly to experienced Unix and Windows users the AS/400 looked familiar as well.
