There was no specific Kerberos PTF required for 9.8.0.0, there was a PTF needed for the debug server to bring it up to date with RDI 9.8. The Kerberos issue with 9.8.0.1 will be resolved by a change to RDI itself as I understand it.

Subject: Re: [WDSCI-L] [EXTERNAL] IBM Rational Developer for i 9.8.0.1 fixpack is now available!
Just discovered that the problem I'm having with 9.8.0.1 is because we use
Kerberos authentication. Had the same issue with 9.8.0.0 before IBM came
out with a PTF to resolve it. I don't know if this would work for anyone
else, but I set the authentication to prompt for a username/pswd and
everything, including the Aldon plugin, in 9.8.0.1 works. This is what I
got back from IBM:

If you are wanting to use Kerberos then I would recommend just using RDI
9.8.0.0
<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/fYHnCkRW0WC34J1Bs28QF2?domain=9.8.0.0 >.
A fix for Kerberos authentication is in the works but it won't be available
in the short term. RDI 9.8.0.1
<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/SZEwClYW9WFqkYpEh9oa0Y?domain=9.8.0.1 > won't
work with Kerberos at the moment, sorry.

Maybe that should have been prominent in a ReadMe doc as a prerequisite?
Even better, don't release a fixpack without the fix from the previous
release.

The 3rd party vendor is fully responsible. We use another competing
plug-in ALDON's plug-in, and it doesn't even work with 9.8, so, we're still
stuck at 9.6 because of this, so, I guess I'm saying, at least you have 9.8.

Apparently, that's the next step. Though you'd think that the RDi team
would have tested major plugins to their products before putting this thing
on the market. At the very least, they could have tried to determine what
was causing the message I was receiving. And you wouldn't think that a
"fix pack" would render a previously working plug in useless.

Have you engaged Aldon?
Seems to me to be a reasonable step.

no one has been able to explain why I'm receiving these messages and
how I can
get
the 8.2.700 Aldon plugin to work with this fix pack.

Hi Eddie,

During our BETA, users who had added p2 update sites that target
Eclipse updates had issues updating the BETA.

Eclipse update sites use .../updates in the url, and those are
intended for the current version of Eclipse. Eclipse updates
version every
quarter,
and their component sites are out of date for Eclipse 4.23 after 6
to 9 months.

Using those update sites will replace our Eclipse plugins and cause
the current installation to stop functioning. Requiring a re-install.

As an Example URL via the eGIT repository:
https://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates (usable for 4.26 to 4.30
only and uses Java 17.)

I feel your frustration, and would like to apologize for the
troubles you've already experienced.

We have expanded our BETA program over the past 5 years, but we are
always
looking for new folks. The more diverse setup base we have, the
better releases we have.

If you want to join the RDi BETA team, simply reach out to me via
IBM Support, or contact me directly on LinkedIN.

Well, the "install new software", "check for RDi updates", "check
for
software updates" options didn't work with this fix pack. I
and others had to uninstall RDi and reinstall it.
