One other thing to check is that RDI was unzipped into a user directory. If it was unzipped into a Windows protected directory like under the “C:\Program Files\” tree then it will need to be elevated to license or install plugins cleanly. For the best experience right now just un-zip into your User directory (eg. C:\Users\{kool-kidz}\IBM\).

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: [WDSCI-L] License not validated in RDi 9.8
Hi Thomas,

When we have seen issues like this in the past, users went into the License Manager first. This "enables" Floating License Server.

Have the user go into Manage Licenses from the Help Menu, and disable the Floating License option.

We've asked the License Team to make Floating License disabled the default value so users don't stumble into this.

If you need more help on this, don't hesitate to contact IBM support.

Thanks!

Subject: [WDSCI-L] License not validated in RDi 9.8

Hallo,

We do have a curious problem on the Laptop of one of n colleagues. RDi 9.8 has been installed by extracting it from the distribution zip file. Then the license plugin has been installed with "Help -> Install New Software". I did not notice any errors watching that process.
