Thanks Steve,

Appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I have searched my entire laptop for occurrences of *dltk* and the only
occurrence was in an old workspace and I had renamed that file. Prior to
renaming the file the last change date was back in 2018 so unlikely this
file was being used.

So for some reason that database is not on my system - ???

Unfortunately the main file that is not working is large containing many
functions used across the application, not sure how I am going to find the
cause.

Don't suppose there is any tool that I could use to try and identify the
line the StringIndexOutOfBoundsException is occurring on ?

Thank you

Don Brown

Hi Don,

The error produced was while the php parser was trying to handle a new
line and threw a StringIndexOutOfBoundsException. It could be something as
simple as a missing semicolon. ; <--

Stack Overflow suggested that it could be a DLK defect and the only way to
clear it was to clear the generated Database or create a new workspace.
(Create a new workspace may be the fastest way).

The location of the .metadata/.plugins/ folder is where you found your log
file.

C:/Users/<you>/<your named
workspace>/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.ui.workbench/log <-- this is
your log file
Look in the .plugins level for the DLK plugin.

If that doesn't work, look at the code difference between the ones that
work and ones that do not. Comment out some lines until you find the
offending code.

Mike is correct that it's not RDi Editors, parsers, or outline. The full
stack you sent didn't include any RDi plugin's.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mike,

I have tried all editors.

The confusing thing is that the outline works on some .php files and not
others.

Steve suggested
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8504740/eclipse-outline-view-is-empty

But unfortunately this did not provide any solutions.

Thanks

What editor are you using to open the php file with?

Unless it is an editor that is part of RDI itself it may be unlikely that
we can do much to change the outcome for you.

Thanks Jon,

I have PDT Version 4.3.0.201703131616

No Errors are evident in the PHP file

I have explicitly selected the PHP editor to open the file.

Trying more files I now find that some are showing the outline correctly,
some are showing procedures but not fields and some are showing fields and
not procedures and some are showing nothing at all.

I have checked the filters and nothing is applied.

Most weird

Is the php showing any signs that there are errors (i.e. the rd bars
on the RHS of the edit window? Most of the outline view issues I have
encountered have been due to this.

Another possibility lurking at the back of my mind relates to file
associations. In some cases the editor remembers an association for a
file. For instance (I think this is the scenario) if I had a file with
a txt extension and renamed it to php it would not switch to using php
syntax coloration, outline view etc. I think the way to check it is
to right click on the source and see which editor it picks as the
default from the list. IN my car one was selecting th text editor and
the other the php editor.

I'm assuming in all this that you have loaded PDT into RDi.

Any suggestions to what I might try next ?
