I might add another kind of compare - the delta icon on the tool bar lets you specify a member to compare with - I find it useful for showing a code reviewer the things I have changed from the production version. It is like the Code/400 compare with the red and yellow colors for change and original. And I've found Ctrl-L and Ctrl-C useful here for selective merging.
