Doug,

I change my associate in RDI for ".SQL" to Basic LPEX Editor. Because we store our sql in a regular source file.

windows > preferences > --> Filter "ASSOC".
Click on > General > Editors > File Associations

I set my default editor to "Basic LPEX Editor"

Then I have the Normal "LPEX" editor.

I think I set up the LPEX parser colors for "sql" here:
LPEX Editor > parser Style

Now to work on the sql, I might cut & paste into my favorite sql editor: Squirrelsql.com, ACS run scripts, or even IBM Data Studio. You pick your sql editor.

Hope that helps!

You are not the only one who use sql inside of RDI.

Ken,

This is what I found out, it has something to do with the type of source I'm editing, i.e. .SQL instead of a .RPG, etc., so I went into the preferences for the file associations and found the *.SQL and changed it to LPEX Editor. This sounded like a good idea but it didn't seem to work out. I'm calmer now that I know I can still use the split screen for other sources and I will eventually figure out why it's not working for the .SQL.

Thanks for the tip about the error-log, didn't help in this instance but I'll make sure to remember it in the future.

Doug,

What release of RDI do you have?

I have occasional issue with split screens. But a restart on RDI 9.6.05 usually fixes it.

I have discovered that sometimes, it is also a good idea to clear your cache, before restarting. Before doing the restart with "-clean", and then a restart without the -clean.

Just a thought...

Oh yeah, check your error-log:
window > show view > other... ---> Filter by error, and then select "Error Log". Usually "Java" stuff, but might give an indication of problems.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] RDi Split Screen Stopped Working

All,

Don't know what I did since last Friday (I have been experimenting with different Keyboard Shortcuts) but my split screen has stopped working. When I do a Ctrl+2 I get no change. When I pull down from Windows --> Editor --> Toggle Split Editor (Vertical) the screen flashes to a split screen but immediately goes away. Tried bringing it up with -clean and Run As Admin but it hasn't change the behavior. Any thoughts?
