I had to turn off the updating outline in this one member I have that just
throws the parser into a tizzy. I shut it off while I work on that one and
use the manual refreshing.

I completely agree - I find it so abundantly helpful in my work to have
this feature.

The only thing is how long it takes to get going when first I open RDi -
might be due to having a number of members open, and it is especially slow
over VPN to work - but that's to be expected.

Until we had the live outline the static outline what the (only) default

Hi Mike

Yeah, I figured he is a developer, since Help Systems is doing a lot of
that work now, right?

I do still kind of recall some mention of this by Edmund or someone of
you folks, that turning live outline on or off had some affect elsewhere
- so then it was a feature!! :)

Stories change, and dim memories do, as well.

Besides, since I work with the RFEs as part of my role of a member of
CAAC, I felt it worthwhile to distinguish between enhancement requests
and bug reports - we see things in RFEs that really need to get a PMR,
and vice versa.

Cheers

Steve is a developer, he should know if it is a defect or not ;)

Let me know directly if you need help getting a PMR opened

Hi Steve

Not sure this is a defect - seems I remember it mentioned as how it is
designed when the live update first came out.

But if not a defect, then Stuart should submit an RFE - there's a place
there to submit RDi requests.

Hi Stu,

I was able to reproduce your issue by turning off the Live parse setting

and restarting RDi.

I agree that these should not be dependent.

To get this preference turned back on, go to Preferences, type ILE RPG

in

the small window at the top, select the IBM I Parsers (ILE RPG)

preference

and select the Update the Outline view when text is changed in the

editor,

and restart RDi.

Could you please enter a PMR so others can track the progress of this

defect.

Thanks!

Had occasion today to turn off "Update the outline view when text is

typed in the editor".

I noticed that I can no longer sort the outline; I cannot get to the

preferences easily because the little drop-down triangle no longer works;

I

can't collapse all the nodes either.

Not sure why any of that would depend on HOW or WHEN the data gets into

the outline.

Is there another setting I am missing to turn those features back on?
Whent he "auto-update" is turned off, is anyone else missing those

buttons up there?
