Community supported would eliminate my objection to IBM spending any
significant resources on it. You are correct about Liam's editor, it's
really based on Notepad++.

All true David, however it still takes resources to package, and

What if they made the lite version 'community supported'? I've seen a fair
number of packages offer that as an option.

Since Liam's product is nearly what you want, I'm still inclined to
let IBM spend all of its resources on RDi full version.

But Liam's product, as nice as it is, isn't Eclipse based ... so it won't be
able to play in the larger Eclipse ecosystem ... or support the plug-in's
that many vendors (including the one I work for) are providing to integrate
with RDI.

I'd actually like it if they would open source the basic RDi features and
keep the pro components closed source.

IBM offering IBM i related code as open source isn't unprecedented. JT400
for example.
