Last Century, the old WDSC used to have everything including the KITCHEN Sink! It was OVER-KILL!

Most of us just needed to write code in RPGLE/Cobol.

So, there are free and/or cheaper alternatives out there already.

Our Microsoft Developers per seat license is a lot higher than IBM, relatively speaking.

I personally want IBM to support the FULL RDI Product! That the Professional companies for support and/or upgrades.

Eclipse Neon has the zoom feature of Ctrl+= (zoom-in) & Ctrl+- (Zoom-Out) for text, c, c++, Java, Java-script, etc...

Sadly, we still do *NOT* have a "zoom-Feature" like other editors on the planet, NotePad++, sublime, Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, Mono, etc. Just *NOT* LPEX... <disappointment>

HINT HINT, for those companies that pay support for RDI.

Just dam GLAD that I have an AWESOME an I.D.E. for IBM i 7.3 on a 21st Century Power System Hardware. Rather than the JUNK "AS400", which was discontinued in 1999! Junk by today's standards! Just a hint to the old-Punch-Card-Lovers out there... <smirk>

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment:

There are at least two great open source editors out there. Orion which is free (5733-OPS) and Liam Allan has published his version called ILEditor.
See: http://worksofbarry.com/ileditor

So now the question: Do you want IBM spending time/money on a lite version of RDi, taking away resources from the full RDi product, or would you like them to concentrate solely on the full RDi product and allow the open source community to develop your lite versions?

I vote open source.

There is an request (RFE) for an RDi-Lite version which would be free
or at least much cheaper. It's status is currently "Under
Consideration." So at least IBM is thinking about it.

You can add your vote at:

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=1
08558

developerWorks requires an IBM ID for which registration is free.

Thx for highlighting this RFE - it has my vote!
