Dave,

I am NO spring-chicken myself, I am the oldest on my team, including the CIO, IT Director, my boss, and all my co-workers. I close to your age, I have a lot of white hair.

Do you USE Punch-Cards today? Do you use a dial up modem? Do you use a rotary Phone? Is your Current PC manufacture Last Century? (1999 or before? The discontinue "AS400" was last manufacture in 1999)

Hat's off, to those battle using Punch-card machines Last century! I salute you!

But, why would you use a Punch-card-format or RPG-II today? That is crazy!

I value experience, if you are able to leave behind stuff we are NOT actively using today, for new code.
You do NOT follow in that Category!

I hope that you are using **free, it has been out over 3-years. Or at the minimum the old 1996 "/free". Are you sticking to the Old 92-column punch-card format for RPG-400?

No disrespect meant sir.

Since you are using RDI, you are NO "Punch-Card-Fossil", you have evolved past punch cards and RPG-II!!

A "fool" is my book, who someone who does not adapt, or learn new things. And even refuses, because he *LOVES* punch-cards from the 1950's. That is what I meant by a "Fool" or "Punch-Card-Fossil". It has nothing to do with Age, but unable to adapt to ANYTHING new. Punch-cards worked last century, and we can still use them today! WTF?

My retired Punch-Card-Lover old co-worker told me that "XML" is some brand new FAD. No one use XML. Of courses a lot more developers now use JSON today. Fool = Failure to Adapt to new technologies.

The Punch-Card-Fossils won't use it no matter what. Why argue with a
Fool? Thank God some of the Punch-Card-Lovers are finally retiring.

Careful with who you call a fool. I am one of those "Punch-Card-Fossils" and a "Punch-Card-Lover" but I love RDi, too. I am near 62 and won't be retiring before 70 if I can help it. I love my job.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
