Not as atypical as you would think. I spend a lot of time on site with customers. I'd say at well over half of them, the majority of the staff is under 50.
That being said, I work for a UI modernization company. So our customers "get it". They are usually looking to move their applications forward and are bringing in new talent.

Most of our staff is under 50. Heck, just in my office I have I have 4 under 30. I'm only 39 myself.
