Back in college I think they called that "selection bias". Not "bias" in a bad way, just meaning not a true random selection.

Not as atypical as you would think. I spend a lot of time on site with customers. I'd say at well over half of them, the majority of the staff is under 50.
That being said, I work for a UI modernization company. So our customers "get it". They are usually looking to move their applications forward and are bringing in new talent.
