Thomas.

I'm wondering if there is a conflict with your PC/RDI "text file
encoding" under Window>Preferences>General>Workspace>"text file
encoding" and its translating it, or not! (I also seem to recall there
are a couple of other places that can set the text file encoding, as
default, as parent, as manually set.)

To be honest I am never sure what is the best option for source (both on
and off the i) and got so frustrated with the whole "question mark in a
diamond" (I'm using using a German default system) that I cheated and
forced the lib, files, my sign-on, the whole shebang to be honest, into
"37" with my virtual win8-PC and WDSC as utf-8. (I guess I could have
gone for the UK page code, being in the UK, but it just seemed easier to
go with the US page.)

I kinda understand the utf thing, and the page code... but how, or when,
it translates and which characters (beyond the invariant set) get mapped
or "naffed" just leads me to endless frustration and much
"head-meet-desk" moments.
