Do people really want a lot of different preferences that they may never
discover and then have to figure out whether they are useful and might
only
be there because of the historical evolution of the product? (Just
doesn't
feel clean and easy to learn). It would be nice if we had options that
helped people accomplish certain tasks easier, so they measurably
improve
productivity.

After reading Bucks response to this it got me thinking. I definitely
agree with Buck that having the preferences available is well worth it.
(Shoot if we don't want a bunch of preferences, we don't want Eclipse.)
Having the wealth of resources available (which this mailing list is
definitely a part of), I usually can get the low-down on any preferences
that will help me out.
