What you're talking about is what RPGNextGen does Brian - the only thing they have missing is the syntax checker.
Perhaps what we should ask IBM to do is make the RPG syntax checker available FOC for others to incorporate?
However, as a freelancer I can never understand why we think we should not pay for our own tools? When was the last time any of us hired a plumber or carpenter (or car mechanic for that matter) and had him turn up with no tools >>and expecting to use ours? I see no reason why the freelancer should not provide his own copy - and in most cases it is a fully deductible expense.
</snip>This is just fanciful musing on my part. Do you think there would be a demand for a FREE “RDi Lite” product from IBM? (Not suggesting it is ever likely to happen.) If so, what features would you suggest they leave out in this “lite” version?
