Well, since you put it that way, and so eloquently, of course it sounds like a good idea and I'll vote for it too.
And you're right, I face the same situation. Many times I've said, I've got to fix this so I know next time what that was for.
But, there are also the times when there is no time. And like Vern adding a character or a space sometimes makes it easier - searching for (2) instead of 2 for example.
