As an alternative to enhancements to RDP, Craig Rutledge has some tools, including one that turns CALLs into prototyped calls. I think he gives the program a names with PROTO in it - this and many other tools are free and include source code, so you can tailor things to your needs.

Take a look at http://www.jcrcmds.com/ for more information.

It's definitely something I use a lot in C#.

I really like the Extract function refactoring. I'm doing a lot of that now
(transitioning legacy 5250 code to callable routines), and that would be a
major enhancement IMO.

Given the information that's already present in the outline view, I

I definitely agree that this would be useful. But, I don't think most
people in our community (at least, RPGers) understand what refactoring
means -- or really, what you're asking for, Buck.

I think if you want to drum up votes, you should explain what you're
looking for. ("the ability to rename variables, procedures, etc at a
click of a button") etc.

Explain it well, and I think you could get a lot of votes.

Rather than curse the darkness, I'm lighting a candle. I really would
like to have the ability to use Eclipse / RDp to refactor; especially
my
legacy code. I hope that other RPG programmers agree and vote for this
idea.
