I do this too (the compiler directive approach) for temporary changes since
is does not change the source dates of the lines like commenting them does.
If I need to reinstate the lines later, I remove the compiler directives and
the lines are exactly like they were before. I could give a damn about the
dates myself, but others in the shop seem to think they're worth something!
