I strongly disagree...
If you're a DB developer, writing application that access a DB, you
should be at least somewhat familiar with Visual Explain or whatever
you're platforms equivalent is.
Particularly on the i, as we don't tend to have DBA's on our platform.
But I've dealt with the results on non-i platforms where the
developers didn't have a clue how to use MS Query Analyzer or Oracle's
Explain Plan....it is not pretty.
