Hi, David:

WDSCi and RDi should be "smart enough" to know, based on object type, when it must create a temporary save file, save the object into this temporary save file, send the save file to the target system, receive the save file on the target system, and restore the object from the temporary save file, and then delete the temporary save file, when you "drag and drop" an object you want to copy from one system to another. It should also be "smart enough" to know what TGTRLS(VxRxMx) to specify, or give a reasonable error message if you try to copy from say V6R1M0 to V5R2M0, which of course, the IBM SAVxxx commands do not support (more than the "n - 2" rule.)

Do we need to get a bunch of people to open DCRs for this, to get IBM to "fix" this?

Thanks,

Mark S. Waterbury

FWIW: Moving objects between systems (especially production systems) is best done with a change control system.

That said ... it would be nice to be able to move certain objects around without having to go through the save/ftp/restore rigamarole.
