The functionality described here is available on the green screen side using ObjectConnect, I believe - something like that - it is a free option of SS1 - commands like SAVRSTOBJ and SAVRSTLIB do make use of temporary SAVF's, I would guess. Very cool. Now it seems that something similar could be used - of course, moving the SAVF between systems does get onerous - would be nice if the transfer did not have to move through the PC, rather could stay on a network between i boxes, so that RSE becomes a manage of the transfer, not the pipe itself.

Possible?

WDSCi and RDi should be "smart enough" to know, based on object type, when it must create a temporary save file, save the object into this temporary save file, send the save file to the target system, receive the save file on the target system, and restore the object from the temporary save file, and then delete the temporary save file, when you "drag and drop" an object you want to copy from one system to another.

That's a LOT of work for RDI to do with no clear way of transferring the object. Using RDI as the transfer mechanism is not especially efficient. A save file could be massive, depending on the object.

Source file transfers are pretty straight forward.
