i haven't delved too far into the 3.4 release but i don't think that support for URI for editing stuff is much developed yet. for just viewing (getting) stuff it is probably easy to implement but saving is not so easy.The URI is for allowing Eclipse to handle a given chunk of data. The code to move this data, and in general provide the functionalities must be provided by a AS/400 specific plugin.
and i still don't see how this URI stuff is gonna help. you still have to get the data somehow and you still have to save it somehow. and using what protocol?
