Be careful here - there is no 7.1 release of WDSC. WDSC is "stabilized" at release 7. The next tooling we will see will be RDi, with a release number of 7.1. RDi is much, much smaller than, lighter than, and less fully featured than WDSC.

Heh, I agree and the version/product name nomenclature revisions over the years haven't made it easy to make comparisons.

I only wanted to try to explain that the very latest product is completely unbundled from SEU/PDM, and it turns out that the version number is 7.1.

I almost went blind trying to dredge up the history of ADTS / WSD / WDSC / WDSCi / RDi :-) One thing to bear in mind is that WDSC is really dead -- as dead as OfficeVision. The last version of WDSC is 7.0 unless some miracle occurs.

Rational will soon (March 2008) sell a new product called RDi. This new product looks a lot like WDSC, is based on the same Eclipse version as WDSC and is numbered V7.1, as though it were WDSC's next version. But it's not. It's a new product, packaging-wise, no matter what the software actually looks like inside the package.

I don't know why Steve wanted the history, but I found it confusing enough when I lived through it! I hope the wiki helps (and that someone takes the time to make it better!!) For those wishing a snapshot:
