Just a clarification - it kind of depends on how you're making this
comparison.
Not really. I'm comparing RDi's capabilities to WDSC's capabilities. Those are constant, regardless of which parts you install.

It is significantly smaller and lighter than the _full_ installation of
WDSC, for sure. And, with the exception of the addition of the 2 new
features, it is less fully featured than WDSC because there's no web stuff,
no EGL, etc.

So depending on where you are and how you use WDSC V7, it may or may not be
smaller and lighter and less fully featured than WDSC.
I stand by my statement. RDi is much smaller, lighter and less full-featured than WDSC. If you choose to install only part of WDSC, that doesn't make WDSC any less full-featured, you're just using less of the features. But you're right, if you're using WDSC-lite today, then RDi will be pretty similar.

I wish it were simpler to make comparisons, but I guess that's what the
repackaging is all about. It's about different types of developers having
different roles and different toolsets to meet their specific needs. In
theory, at least.
It seems pretty straightforward to me. WDSC is RAD, a fully functional J2EE development environment, with the System i extensions added (e.g., RSE and LPEX editors). It allows you to develop entire web applications end to end, and is the only tool to do so. Not even RDi-SOA will have all the features of WDSC, although it's still not clear exactly what capabilities are supported in RDi-SOA.

RDi's capabilities are very clear - it is effectively a GUI for green screen programmers.
