Then you haven't been taught, Charlie. It's as simple as that. How
long
did it take you to learn how to code a subfile? It sure wasn't one
hour.
And yet, you didn't go back to coding arrays on the screen, did you?

This is what I mean by expectations. We expected that subfiles were
going to take a week or two to learn, but in the end would be worth that
effort. What is different about the expectations vs effort ratio in WDSC?

WHAT?!?!?!?!

Who told you it would take a week or two, and who gave you the expectations
that they would be worth the effort? In fact, I seem to remember a lot of
people back in the day saying that subfiloes were too much work, and they'd
rather just use arrays the way God intended.

And who gave you these other expectations about WDSC? Who is this "they"
that is handing out these numbers, Buck? It ain't me. All I say is that
WDSC is more productive for nearly all everyday programming tasks, and I can
back that statement up, over and over.

I find myself continually amazed at the idea that you should be able to
be
proficient in WDSC in one hour, and that if you aren't, that it's
somehow a
waste of your time, especially from the veterans who have taken years,
even
decades, to learn their craft.

This is what I mean by 'not a PDM-killer.' People are expecting
Something Really Incredible from WDSC. Why, I don't exactly know, bit
as near as I can tell, the general desire is to have SEU in grey that
does A Lot More. But is still SEU.

Who is expecting this? Not me! I tell people how to do their daily job in
WDSC. I show them every task, and how to do it in WDSC. I don't need to
hype it, because it's easy to see where WDSC is better (and those few places
where it isn't, such as building a long list of members). Competent people
are able to assess the two styles and determine which works best for them.
As I've said, easily 90% of the people in my experience believe that WDSC
will be better, and a few don't.

And of those, a few who thought WDSC would work find themselves unable to
make the switch, just as a few diehard green screeners eventually slip to
the dark side of WDSC <grin>.
