Just wondering, does IBM's iSeries Access for Web product include a web based Operations Navigator? If so, WDSCi contains an integrated browser.... Seems much cleaner for IBM to host the administrative functionality in web services....

I disagree with the fundamental idea that everything should be done
inside
the IDE... the IDE should be for development (hence the D in IDE),

You must really like that 'D' because you totally missed the 'I' for
"Integrated" :-)

I am REALLY getting tired of people telling me what I missed <grin>.
Seriously, I didn't miss it at all. "Integrated" modifies "development"
just as "development" modifies "environment". The key adjective is
development, and as far as integrated, WDSC is highly integrated, supporting
more languages than any other IDE I've ever seen.

Integration is what wins out IMO.

Yup. Integrated development.

Just today I was
compiling a PF and as soon as it took more than five seconds I knew I had
it locked. Being that I was already staring at the existing PF in RSE it
would have been great to right click and select "Work With Locks", but
unfortunately that isn't available in WDSC - but it sure would make my job
easier if it was.

Yeah, I agree it would. But I don't want them wasting time on it. I can't
think exactly how many seconds per month this feature would save you, Aaron,
but if it's more than 100, I'd be surprised.

In my opinion.

Really, Aaron, if this is such a need, you can write it yourself and add it
to WDSC. That's why it's an EXTENSIBLE framework.

Why shouldn't you be able to do system admin stuff from an IDE if it makes
your life as a programmer easier?

Waste of time. I want something that makes me a more productive programmer,
not a faster administrator.

What are the features that you want them
to add? (an Outline view the refreshes PF DDS is at the top of my list
btw)

Literally dozens. More templates. Bidirectional prototype editing. Screen
Designer. Better /free conversion. You name it.
