Dave,

I wish I knew. I personally like WDSc, (or Rational Web Developer which
is the version I am currently using), but then again I already liked the
Eclipse framework. I don't know what would make it become widely accepted
for the majority of green screen programmers, perhaps, as Buck suggested,
nothing will ever do that. I do know that, to me at least, an emulator
doesn't cut it. Don't get me wrong - I like this embedded Arcad emulator
and plan on using it daily now, but I think the emulator idea itself is
outdated. I'd like to see the day when you can do everything inside the
IDE and it doesn't just emulate a green screen, it replaces it with an
entirely new way of doing things, an interactive gui environment that
resembles green screen about as much as a 747 resembles the Hindenburg,
(they both do the same thing - move passengers through the air).
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get there from here. Until then,
I'll have to alt-tab like everyone else because the code view of WDSc
really rocks. =)

And Buck, I think you hit the nail on the head. It's all about
expectations and perceptions. If you expect WDSc to be the be all and end
all you will be disappointed, but if you instead come in with the
expectation that it will enhance your daily work experience, you will be
pleasantly surprised as you find out how powerful of a tool it can be.
