Even for a tech preview, it can easily be worth spending a fraction of a
developer's annual salary /if/ it actually makes a significant difference. Unfortunately, until we all see what it can do, it's guesswork. I think the point you are missing though is that those developers already have CODE Designer - in other words for many the productivity difference you use to justify the cost (which at $3,500 US is frankly ridiculous) has already been factored in and (perhaps) used to justify the cost of PC upgrades. If CODE Designer didn't exist I would be more inclined to agree with you. There is very little in the new Designer (other than integration) that CODE Designer doesn't already have.
