Yes, CODE exists as long as you don't upgrade to Vista. It's not supported there and there is *no* plan to support it in the future. . . . and . . .

If you look at the announcement letter or the planning statement for CODE, you'll see that it's been 'deprecated' - it won't be changed to support any new releases of OS/400, and it won't be included in future versions of WDSCi. Either the product planners are clueless about how we use this product, they think they have us over a barrel and want to milk us, or there's some underlying technical issue that they haven't fixed yet and aren't telling us about.
I don't know for certain, but I *think* it's a Vista support issue. See the following from the archives: http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l/200702/msg00176.html and http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l/200702/msg00179.html *If* I'm right, that would probably indicate where IBM is willing to invest development dollars. CODE being 'old' technology would take some work to move to Vista. WDSC is based on Eclipse which IBM doesn't have to do everything to move to Vista. Hence, it gets carried forward. Don't get me wrong. This really bugs me, but at it always helps me when I try to see some reason for something I don't like. Of course this still gives *no* explanation as to why the new screen designer is only available in the advanced edition.
