Yes there is away to associate external programs to file extentions. Go to windows preferences and expand workbench. Under there you will see file associations. Click on this and it will allow you add a file extention on the top. Once you have this created then highlight it and use the box on the bottom to add associated editors. Once you click add you will have the choice of an internal Rational editor or External. If you pick external it should look at your computer and give you the choice to associate it with Visual Studio. You can set this as the default editor so that when you click on it, it will open the associated program instead of having to right click and say open with. Richard; Hmmmmm I was hoping there was a way to cause visual studio to come up based on the file type. Like prototype the file type. What would I know, I'm new to both.
