Thanks Cheri;

I just set it up, worked perfect.

Now I have two ways to bring up a vb program.

Yes there is away to associate external programs to file extentions. Go
to
windows preferences and expand workbench. Under there you will see file
associations.
Click on this and it will allow you add a file extention on the top. Once

you have this created then highlight it and use the box on the bottom to
add
associated editors. Once you click add you will have the choice of an
internal Rational editor or External. If you pick external it should look

at your computer and give you the choice to associate it with Visual
Studio.

You can set this as the default editor so that when you click on it, it
will
open the associated program instead of having to right click and say open
with.

Richard;

Hmmmmm

I was hoping there was a way to cause visual studio to come up based on
the file type. Like prototype the file type. What would I know, I'm
new
to both.

Thanks

Sure, assuming you know the syntax for VB :-)

You'll miss the code assist stuff from Visual Studio though.
